Thailand Raises Daily Minimum Wage in Bangkok to THB 400 from July 1, 2025

On June 17, 2025, Thailand’s National Wage Committee approved extending the THB 400 daily minimum wage not only to Bangkok—where it increases from THB 372—but also to all employees in Category 2–4 hotels and entertainment venues across the country, effective July 1, 2025. This benefits an estimated 700,000 workers.

Employer Requirements

  • Payroll updates: Employers must update payroll systems to reflect THB 400/day for all Bangkok staff and eligible sectors nationwide.
  • Record-keeping compliance: Payslips and contracts need revising; back pay adjustments may be required if previous rates applied.
  • Soft loan support: To ease adjustment costs, the government has arranged THB 30 billion in soft loans via six commercial banks.

Broad Impacts

This wage increase is part of Thailand’s response to inflation and high cost of living. It supports labor standards in tourism and service sectors while elevating worker incomes and purchasing power. However, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) may face increased wage bills and pressure to adjust pricing or staffing models.
